I Wasn’t Supposed To Be Here.
Not running 30+ miles a week on foot.
Not riding 180-mile weeks on hills most avoid.
Not swimming 10,000 yards after a double mastectomy.
Not thriving without ovaries.
Not after being hit by a car.
Not after Hashimoto’s.
Not after being told to slow down.
But I’m here anyway.
Because I didn’t get here by accident.
I built this life — mile by mile.
I Don’t Train Because It’s Easy — I Train Because I Can.
I am a 47-year-old endurance athlete.
A mother.
A cancer previvor.
A fighter.
In the last two years — I’ve crossed finish lines I was never supposed to reach.
In 2021, I finished my first triathlon, Augusta 70.3
In 2023, I finished IRONMAN Florida — 140.6 miles of relentless forward motion.
In 2024, I qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon — the most famous marathon in the world.
And now I’m training for IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga — a race through the Tennessee hills I once would have feared... but now seek out.
I live every single day in the body I rebuilt —
A body without ovaries.
Without breast tissue.
But with a heart and drive stronger than ever.
I haven’t taken a day off training in almost five years —
Not because I have to.
But because this sport gave me a second chance.
It gave me control when life felt uncontrollable.
Why The IRONMAN Foundation Matters
Endurance sport changed my life — but not everyone has access to this journey.
That’s why I race for the IRONMAN Foundation —
Because it brings resources, grants, and hope to the communities that host us.
IRONMAN isn’t just about crossing finish lines.
It’s about leaving every place we race better than we found it.
To date, I’ve raised nearly $6,000 for the IRONMAN Foundation —
Because I believe sport should build more than medals.
It should build people.
It should build hope.
What I Believe
I’m not the fastest.
But I am the most relentless.
I swim with a crooked left elbow —
A reminder that a car couldn’t take this away from me.
I run hills every week —
Because life gave me every excuse not to.
And I refused every single one.
What I Want You To Know
The next time you say someone is lucky —
Ask them about the mornings they got up when no one was watching.
Ask them about running 252 miles with a broken elbow.
Ask them about biking 7,000 miles a year — without excuses.
Ask them about being a 47-year-old woman in endurance sport —
Living in a body that was never supposed to be this strong.
My Finish Lines Are Never Just For Me.
Every mile I race for the IRONMAN Foundation is for the next woman wondering if she can.
Every hill I climb is for the next athlete who thinks they’re too old.
Every finish line I cross is proof that nothing is impossible with enough heart.

The IRONMAN Foundation
Since 2003, more than $55 million has been provided through the IRONMAN Foundation's charitable giveback programs to organizations world-wide. Through these partnerships, IRONMAN athletes are powerfully linked to the community and together we leave a positive IRONMAN legacy behind in our race communities long after race day. We #RaceForMore.
