project 44

I've always been passionate about sports.  In high school I played football, basketball, track,  and baseball.  I worked hard and walked on to the University of Iowa football team, and was selected with the 24th pick of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. I was a part of the Super Bowl XLI championship team and was able to spend a total of 11 seasons in the NFL as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Baltimore Ravens.   On June 18, 2014, I signed a one-day contract with Colts so I could retire as a member of their team.  I can't even begin to truly describe how thankful I am that I was able to achieve my childhood dreams.

So many of the kids being cared for at the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital are fighting every day just for the next day. For some of them, their dream is simply to go home and sleep in their own bed, for others their dream is to hear from their doctor that they are free of cancer, and for others their dream is to hear that a treatment or even better, a cure, has been found for the illness they are battling.

The kids that are battling health challenges have always inspired me and their strength is beautiful and contagious and there is no better place to invest!  This is why I have teamed up with the IRONMAN Foundation to race the Supersapiens IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, HI this October and Race For More.

The IRONMAN World Championship triathlon is no easy task and I have a tough journey ahead of me.  However, along that journey I am committed to raising awareness and funds for two organizations that are very near to my heart, the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

My goal is not just to complete the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run on race day but to raise $2 million for these children's hospitals, so that the children being cared for are able to see that truly, Anything Is Possible, and they need to continue to fight for their dreams because they are achievable!
